PROBLEM STATEMENT

Jauntin' is Canadian based and one of the first to launch an on-demand micro-insurance (insurtech) solution using agile methodologies.

The challenge was to speak to two different targets, insurance companies and companies who employ gig workers, such as GrubHub and marry them together.

Jauntin needed a site that shows how their integration systems paired the insurance carriers who in turn supplied it to the gig work economy.

MISSION

To come up with a functional design that aligns with their business goals and strategies. Drawing from their existing site and applying those strategies.

AREAS OF FOCUS

All the core messaging was in their site, however it wasn't easy for the user find what they were looking for.

We wanted to make sure our messaging was clear.

  • How the Partnership Works

It was important to demonstrate Jauntin's turn key solution by creating digital distribution of insurance policies either directly, through brokers or third party platform.

  • The Target Audience

The 2 targets we wish to speak to are Insurance carriers that provides the insurance to through the gig platforms that would in turn provide for the gig workers.

  • Gig Insurance Platform

To show how the partnership works by white label, (embed access directly into your platform) or leveraging UnderWing Health + Wellness brand (through dedicated landing page).

MARKET RESEARCH

The purpose of the Jauntin' insurtech company is to be a link to both gig work employers and tie them to insurance companies who wished to provide insurance through an existing underwriting platform like Underwing Health + Wellness or to hire Jauntin' to develop a product for insurance companies who wish to be an on-demand provider to specific gig workers such as Global Indemnities, Snow Clearing Insurance product, the on-demand insurance for snowplow operators.

In order to fully understand what gig workers needed, Rain (Jauntin' owner), David (president), and I collected and analyze reports, such as MBO Partners State of Independence and understanding the challenges under Prop 22.

What we discovered is that the Gig work economy, in the United States, is growing fast. More and more people elect to be sole proprietors vs. working for companies. An increase of 15% from 2012 -2019. What we extracted from these documents, is that being independent doesn't allow access to affordable insurance rates and the insurance companies don't want to take on the risk of low rates for individuals.

The other area of focus was the Gig work employer, such as the Grub Hub's, Uber's and Lyft's who initially when they started their enterprise, didn't consider providing access to health insurance or other forms of benefits, since these individual drivers were just that, individuals who signed up to be a "self-employed".

As the gig work population grew through these enterprises, the realization was, it should be possible for the gig worker to gain access to basic and affordable health insurance.

Rain Takahashi ( Jauntin' founder ) saw the opportunity to launch one of the first on-demand micro-insurance (insurtech) solutions in Canada.
